There is need to implement the National Assembly Budget – Hon. Taiwo Oluga

Hon. Taiwo Oluga on Thursday, 20th February, 2020, seconded a motion on the need to ensure the implementation of the National Assembly Budget, especially as it pertains to staff members.

The motion was raised at the Plenary held on Thursday, 20th February, 2020, by Hon. Babangida Ibrahim, a member representing MalumFashi/Kafur Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

It should be recalled that on Thursday 20th of December, 2018, the report of the Committees on Finance and Judiciary on the need to ensure the implementation of the National Assembly Budget of 2018 was adopted, also, the report of the Committees and the provision of the 2018 Appropriation Act showed that on monthly basis, what the National Assembly and the Judiciary received on First Line Charge was short by N1,208,333,333.33 and N833,333,333.33 respectively from January to November 2018.

The Committee thereby resolved that an Ad-hoc Committee should be set up to liaise with the Minister of Finance to ensure that all outstanding arrears on First Line Charge to both the National Assembly and Judiciary relating to 2018 and 2019 Appropriations Acts are paid, and the Management of the National Assembly be invited to brief the Ad-hoc Committee on the status of releases to the National Assembly from January 2018 to December 2019.

Shortly after the plenary, the member representing Ayedaade/Irewole/Isokan Federal Constituency attended a Committee meeting on Finance Monitoring Session with some MDA’s, and she later joined Mr. Speaker, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila in a meeting in his office, where they rubbed minds with some representatives of the Young Parliamentarians Forum on pressing issues.

Later in the day, she met with the Executive Governor of the State of Osun, Alhaji ‘Gboyega Oyetola at Awolowo House, Osun Lodge in Abuja.
